Prof. Dr. Deniz Balcı and his team restored the patient to health with a two-stage transplantation process, which is one of the few applications under development in the world. In the transplantation, in the first stage, a small piece of liver taken from the donor was transplanted to the recipient by removing a part of the diseased liver. When the small piece of transplanted liver grew and became sufficient for the body, the remaining cirrhotic liver piece was removed from the patient with the second surgery.
